Get to know me and my hopes with this newsletter ✨

Influences:

Some of my biggest intellectual influences that have newsletters/blogs include Scott Alexander (and his Substack), Packy with Not Boring, Nikhil with Out-of-Pocket, and Why is this interesting by Noah and Colin (and they always have rad guest contributors).

What areas am I interested in and watch closely?

  • 🏥 Healthcare

  • 💸 Fintech

  • 👀 web3 and DAO’s more specifically

What will I write about?

  • Deep dives into companies/sectors I’m watching

  • A collection of links of articles/books/tweets/quotes/podcasts I’ve come across with my thoughts attached

  • Thoughts on a topic I’m researching for fun (for example, currently, I’m looking deeply into alternative and possibly distributed education models)

  • Book reviews

Overall, whatever I’m feeling and interested in at the moment to be completely honest.

About me:

I’m Razi, a 24 year old dude from Toronto who is super passionate about all things tech, healthcare, education, politics, finance and the venture capital world. Initially I went to university in Canada but dropped out after 1.5 years to travel and work. I returned to school 2 years later after I worked as a software dev, business analyst, growth, and more. I then took a leave of absence from Harvard where I was studying Computer Science to start a digital health company called mettleAI.

I now work with VC funds to invest in startups globally, focusing primarily on healthtech/biotech companies as well as more general startups. 🚀

I’d like to think that I consume high quality content throughout the internet and I hope to write here to better absorb and synthesize the information and learnings. Ultimately, I want to consume content more meaningfully. It’s mostly a selfish thing but I do hope my writing is interesting to you as well!

🎉 Fun facts

  • My hobby is finding new hobbies (don't tell me that's not valid). Currently I'm a plant dad 🪴, do a lot of yoga 🧘🏽, produce music 🎶, and write anonymously about the psychedelic medicine space ✨.

  • When it was warmer here in Canada, I used to bicycle 🚴🏼‍♀️ (hit 100km a couple months ago!), play tennis, and hiked 🥾 every other day (until I fell off a cliff, got knocked out, found by someone after 1.5 hours, and airlifted to the hospital).

  • 🌎 I backpacked through Europe after I dropped out (because I saw a one way ticket to Iceland for $30) and been to 16 countries and 26 states! Most recently, I just came back from Morocco:

Other Information

I’ve never really written consistently and publicly before, however, I do love writing. With the lack of external feedback in the past, I’d love to hear your feedback about where I can improve, what you’d like to see more of, any specific area you want me to tackle or look into, and whatever other thoughts you might have!
